REMOTESTERS

Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026

1. Information We Collect

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and the details of the profile you set up (skills, rates, experience, company information, and similar fields specific to your role on the platform).

For QA Testers and External Individuals, identity verification requires a National Identification Number (NIN), an optional Bank Verification Number (BVN), a government-issued ID document, and live camera-captured selfie photos. This information exists specifically to confirm you are a real, unique person and to prevent one person from operating multiple accounts.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and secure your account, and to verify your identity.
  • To connect QA Testers with job and gig opportunities, and employers/clients with talent.
  • To process payments, payouts, and withdrawals.
  • To communicate with you about your account, applications, and platform updates.
  • To detect and prevent fraud, including duplicate-account activity.
  • To automatically scan messages sent through our in-platform chat for patterns associated with fraud or attempts to move a job/gig off-platform before a hire is confirmed (for example, shared phone numbers, email addresses, or references to third-party messaging apps). This scanning is performed by automated systems; our staff review only messages flagged by this process, not conversations generally.

3. How We Protect Your Information

Sensitive identity data (NIN, BVN) is encrypted at rest and is never displayed to other users. It is only visible to you and, for the specific purpose of verification review, to our admin team. Uploaded documents and photos are stored with a third-party media provider (Cloudinary) under access-controlled URLs.

In-platform messages are stored to provide the messaging feature and are not end-to-end encrypted (meaning REMOTESTERS, unlike some consumer messaging apps, can technically access message content on its own servers). We do not read messages as a matter of routine; automated scanning as described in Section 2 may flag a message for review by our team for safety purposes.

4. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information with employers/clients only to the extent needed to facilitate a job, gig, or payment (e.g. your profile and application details when you apply to a role), and with service providers who help us operate the platform (hosting, payments, media storage), bound by their own confidentiality obligations.

5. Your Rights

You can review and update most of your profile information at any time from your dashboard. To request deletion of your account or data, contact us using the details on our Contact page.

6. Contact

Questions about this policy can be sent to us via the Contact Us page.

This policy is provided as a general description of our data practices and is subject to update as the platform evolves.
